Size

Finished Size: 6.5 – 6.75’’ (~16.6 – 17 cm) unstretched, 8.0’’ (~21.5 cm) stretched

Yarn

Malabrigo Rios (100% superwash merino; 210 yards [192 meters]/100 grams): 57 English Rose, 1 ball.

Needles

US#5 (3.75 mm): double-pointed needles, 40” circular (for magic loop), or choice of needles for small circumference knitting.

US#6 (4 mm): double-pointed needles, 40” circular (for magic loop), or choice of needles for small circumference knitting.

Notions

One stitch marker, scissors, waste yarn, darning needle

Gauge

20 sts and 33 rows = 4” [10 cm] in St st after washing and drying.

Notes

Since Rios is a superwash wool, keep in mind that it may grow overtime. Thus, it is essential that you put it in the dryer after washing to make it resume its shape. Monitor closely and take it out of the dryer every couple of minutes until it’s the desired size.

This pattern is worked in the round from the bottom up, with no shaping and a thumb gusset.

The direction “work petal” indicates that you must work only one “loop” of the three-loop dandelion.

Flower

Insert right-hand needle into the third stitch down from the second stitch on left needle (this place will form the center of the flower) and draw through a stitch (make stitch loose enough so the rows don’t pucker), leave stitch on right-hand needle and knit 2, make second stitch into same stitch as previous petal, knit 2, make third stitch into same stitch. 3 sts inc’d but will be dec’d on next rnd.

Pattern

Cuff

Using smaller needles, CO 32 sts using your favorite stretchy cast on. Join to work in the rnd, being careful not to twist stitches. Place marker.

Work in k1, p1 rib for 1” (2.5 cm), or desired length.

Mitt (make 2)

Work 1 rep of chart, or follow written directions. For longer mitts, work 2 repeats

Rnd 5: K3, work flower, *k4, work flower, rep from * 2 more times, k1.

Rnd 6: K2, *(k2tog, k1) twice, k2tog, k3, rep from * 2 more times. *k2tog, k1*, rep from * 2 more times.

Rnds 7-10: Knit

Rnd 11: K1, work petal, k2, work petal. *k4, work flower, rep from * 2 more times. K4, work petal of flower, k1.

Rnd 12: K2tog, k1, k2tog, k3.*(k2tog, k1) twice, k2tog, k3*, rep from * 2 more times. K2tog, k1.

Thumb Gusset

Rnd 16: K to end of round, pm, m1L.

Rnd 17: Rep rnd 5 to marker, sm, k1.

Rnd 18: Rep rnd 6 to marker, sm, m1R, k1, m1L.

Rnds 19 and 21: K all sts, slipping m as you come to it.

Rnds 20 and 22: K until m, sm, m1R, k until end, m1L

Rnd 23: K7, make flower. *k4, make flower, rep from * 1 more time. K to marker, sm, k 7.

Rnd 24: K6, *(k2tog, k1) twice, k2tog, k3, rep from * 2 more times. K2, sm, m1R, k7, m1L.

Rnds 25 and 27: K all sts, slipping m as you come to it.

Rnds 26 and 28: K until m, sm, m1R, k until end, m1L

Rnd 29: Rep rnd 5 to marker, sm, k to end.

Rnd 30: Rep rnd 6 to marker, sm, m1R, knit to end, m1L.

Rnd 31: Knit.

Remove Thumb

Rnd 32: Knit to marker, place 15 sts bet markers on waste yarn to hold separately. Cont knitting in the rnd as normal (32 sts).

K 2 rnds.

Rep rnds 11-12.

K 4 rnds.

Rep rnds 5-6.

Switch to smaller needles and work in k1, p1 or k2, p2 rib for one inch, or desired length. Bind off using your favorite stretchy bind off.

Finish Thumb

Place sts on hold on larger needles. Pick up 5 stitches from the thumb opening. (20 sts).

Rnd 1: *K3, k2tog,* rep from * around(16 sts).

Switching to smaller needles, work in k1, p1 rib for 1 inch, or desired length. Bind off using your favorite stretchy bind off.

Finishing

Weave in ends and block.
