Abbreviations

Standard abbreviations.

kyok – knit, yarn over, knit in back of same stitch

t – Turn using German Short Row: turn work, making sure yarn is in front, slip stitch purlwise from left to right needle, pull yarn from front to back over right needle (creating a double stitch). When knitting double stitch on return, work as a k2tog. Alternately use preferred short row method.

Small Waves (SW): k9, t, k7, t, k5, t, k7

Large Waves (LW): k19, t, k15, t, k11, t, k7, t, k3, t, k11

SW and LW do NOT change the stitch count. They’re used to create the little “bubbles” in the shawl.

Pattern Notes

Please read through the entire pattern to familiarize yourself with its construction before beginning to knit.

Pattern is knit on the bias, starting at one point, increasing along inner edge and decreasing along the outer edge. When slipping the first stitch of each row, slip it purl wise with yarn in front.
