Gauge & Measurements:
- 6 sts = 1" in 1x1 rib on smaller needles
- Band approximately 17" unstretched
- Hat approximately 9" long (from edge of band)

- 1 skein Elysian - (60% Superwash Merino Wool/ 40% Acrylic - 219 yds/100 g) - shown in 12 - Twilight Purple
- US 6 - 16" Circular Needle
- US 8 - 16" Circular Needle
- US 8 DPNs
- Stitch Marker
- Yarn Needle

Abbreviations:
- K - Knit
- P - Purl
- sl1 wyib - Slip 1 with yarn in back
- Kfb - Knit into the front and back of a stitch (Increase 1)
- P2tog - Purl 2 together

Cast on 100 stitches with the smaller (US 6) needle.
Join in the round, careful not to twist. Place marker.
K1, P1 for 1.5"
Increase round (adding 12 stitches):
[Kfb, K7] - 11 times, end Kfb, K3
Change to larger (US 8) needles
P for 8 rounds

4 repeats of Double Mock Rib (do 1 & 2 4 times):

2 - [P1, sl1 wyib]
P for 8 rounds

Begin Decreases - change to DPNs when necessary (you will decrease 14 times per round):

1 - [P6, P2tog] (98 stitches)
2 - [P5, P2tog] (84 stitches)
3 - [P4, P2tog] (70 stitches)
4 - [P3, P2tog] (56 stitches)
5 - [P2, P2tog] (42 stitches)
6 - [P1, P2tog] (28 stitches)
7 - [P2tog] (14 stitches)
8 - [P2tog] (7 stitches)

Cut yarn, pull through remaining 7 stitches. Weave in ends.
