  • NAKO spaghetti Effect; 3.5 oz/ 100 g, 65.6 yds/ 60 m approx. 25% wool, 75% premium acrylic. Antarctica 7653, 1 ball (color A), Blacks 7600, 1 ball (color B).
  • Size U.S. 15 (10 mm) needles.
  • Tapestry needle.
  • One button: 1.5" / 4 cm diameter, approx.

Yardage: 120- 125 yds/ 110- 115 m approx. half for each yarn.

knitting Terms:

  • k = knit
  • p = purl

Measurements: 26" (26 cm) wide x 9" (23 cm) height approx.

Gauge: 9.5 sts x 20 rows = 4" (10 cm) in Garter Pattern.

Instructions

with yarn B, cast on 73 sts using long tail method (or any other).

Row 1 and 2: k all sts.

Row 3: p 1, k 1, p 1, k to last 3 sts, p 1, k 1, p 1.

Row 4: k 1, p 1, k to last 2 sts, p 1, k 1.

Row 5: (p 1, k 1) twice, p 1, k to last 5 sts, (p 1, k 1) twice, p 1.

Row 6: (k 1, p 1) twice, k to last 4 sts, (p 1, k 1) twice.

Cut yarn B and bind on yarn A:

Row 7: (p 1, k 1) repeat 3 times, p 1, k to last 7 sts, (p 1, k 1) repeat 3 times, p 1.

Row 8: (k 1, p 1) repeat 3 times, k to last 6 sts, (p 1, k 1) repeat 3 times.

Row 9: (p 1, k 1) repeat 4 times, p 1, k to last 9 sts, (p 1, k 1) repeat 4 times, p 1.

Row 10: (k 1, p 1) repeat 4 times, k to last 8 sts, (p 1, k 1) repeat 4 times.

Row 11: (p 1, k 1) repeat 5 times, p 1, k to last 11 sts, (p 1, k 1) repeat 5 times, p 1.

Row 12: (k 1, p 1) repeat 5 times, k to last 10 sts, (p 1, k 1) repeat 5 times.

Cut yarn A and bind on yarn B:

Row 13: (p 1, k 1) repeat 6 times, p 1, k to last 13 sts, (p 1, k 1) repeat 6 times, p 1.

Row 14: (k 1, p 1) repeat 6 times, k to last 12 sts, (p 1, k 1) repeat 6 times.

Row 15: (p 1, k 1) repeat 7 times, p 1, k to last 15 sts, (p 1, k 1) repeat 7 times, p 1.

Row 16: (k 1, p 1) repeat 7 times, k to last 14 sts, (p 1, k 1) repeat 7 times.

Row 17: (p 1, k 1) repeat 8 times, p 1, k to last 17 sts, (p 1, k 1) repeat 8 times, p 1.

Row 18: (k 1, p 1) repeat 8 times, k to last 16 sts, (p 1, k 1) repeat 8 times.

Cut yarn B and bind on yarn A:

Rows 19 - 20: repeat rows 17 and 18 once.

Make one button hole the next row as follows:

Row 21: (p 1, k 1) repeat twice, make the button hole (as shown in the video), (k 1, p 1) repeat 4 times, k to last 17 sts, (p 1, k 1) repeat 8 times, p 1.

Row 22: Repeat row 18.

Row 23: repeat row 17.

Row 24: bind off 14 sts, k 1, p 1, k to last 16 sts, p 1, k 1, bind off the last 14 sts. Cut yarn A. (45 sts) remaining on the knitting needle.

Bind on yarn B to the remaining 45 sts:

Row 25: (p 1, k 1) repeat to last st, p 1.

Row 26: (k 1, p 1) repeat to last st, k 1.

Rows 27-32: repeat rows 25-26.

Row 33: repeat row 25.

Cut yarn B, bind on yarn A:

Row 34: repeat row 26.

Rows 35-36: repeat rows 25-26.

Bind off all sts, weave in loose ends, sew button, enjoy wearing your cowl.
